The Squire and Horse was built in the 16th century when it was originally known as The White Horse, It has been a family run freehouse for over 10 years. Nicholas and Wendy Stripp bought it in 1999. The head chef originates from Australia, where he worked in many top restaurants such as Chez Oz in Sydney and Fanny’s in Melbourne where he won countless awards for his innovative and interesting food. He has trained many staff at the Squire and Horse, making them into quality chefs. The restaurant is gastro style food and tries to source local produce wherever possible to support local businesses. There are 80 covers in the restaurant, it is open 7 days a week and welcomes all, Monday - Saturday 11.30am till 3pm and then 6pm to 11pm, serving food from 12-2pm and 6-9pm, Sundays 12-11pm, serving food 12-8.30.
